What We Use
The Leinster Nutritionist shares some tips on nutrition and why they are an important part of the team's training regime:
"Adequate nutrition has a fundamental role in enabling our players to withstand the demands of playing professional rugby. Players' principal energy, macronutrient and micronutrient requirements will be initially met through a healthy diet. This means eating sufficient carbohydrate to supply energy, protein to support muscle growth and repair, fats to support immune function and health. There may be times when players struggle to meet these needs by eating food alone, sometimes due to the sheer volumes of food they would have to eat. Nutritional supplements combined with appropriate expert advice can assist players by ensuring they are adequately fuelled to cope with playing and training demands."
