Derek is a cook and ex-MasterChef contestant, with a background as a qualified Chartered Accountant, holding a double Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Commerce.
In 2019, Derek participated in Season 11 of MasterChef and was quick to become a fan favourite. Known for his dumplings and friend chicken, and for beating impossible challenges such as making doughnuts in a record time. This experience led to a range of public appearances, restaurant pop-up, recipe development and private catering.
Derek’s philosophy when it comes to health and fitness is to be able to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle whilst still being able to enjoy great and tasty food in order to nourish the body, Derek believes that eating well is just as important as training well. Derek regularly supplements weight training with functional fitness and HIIT workout to challenge his body and physique. From his experiences, Derek has been able to find a way to create healthy and delicious foods that also compliments his active lifestyle and fitness goals.
Derek believes that you don’t have to give up one for the other, and that if you’re going to eat well, you’ve got to train even harder.
