Jade Jones

Hometown: Great Britain & NI, United Kingdom

19-year-old Jones made history by becoming Great Britain’s first-ever Taekwondo athlete to win gold at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. The Welsh fighter was awarded an MBE, after being named among the 2013 New Year’s honours list and was given an OBE in 2019. Jones was the winner of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and has often said it was the moment she realised that she could achieve success at the Olympics in 2012. She also competed at the 2015 European Games in Baku and won gold in the -57kg weight division, making her the second female Taekwondo athlete to do so. The Welsh fighter made further history by becoming double Olympic Champion at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. She has since gone on to secure gold at the 2019 World Championships and even managed to take the European crown for a third time in 2021.
