Calorie Cutting Workout Timing Tip

There are people who prefer to train in the morning before work and those who’d rather hit the gym after the work day has ended. In today’s highly sedentary and mentally demanding workplace, exercising after clocking out might help you cut calories. That’s what a study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise suggests.

Researchers had 38 undergraduate students take a graduate entrance exam. Some were inactive for 15 minutes after this mentally demanding test and some did high-intensity intervals on a treadmill for the same amount of time. Then both groups went to an all-you-can eat pizza buffet. Those who relaxed after the test ate 100 calories more than a control group that didn’t exercise or take the test. Subjects who exercised after the exam consumed 25 calories less than the control group.
