Collagen is the main structural protein in the human body and is a major component of connective tissues like tendons and ligaments, and supports cartilage. As you age, your body processes less collagen. Hard workouts also put stress and strain on the body. Supplementing your diet with collagen may help support your joints.

Can ON Collagen help my body recover from workouts?
While Collagen has many unique benefits it is considered an incomplete protein because it is low in one or more of the essential amino acids. For this reason we recommend using whey, casein, soy, and other complete proteins for muscle support and adding collagen to your routine to support for healthy skin and joints.
What type of collagen do you use?
Collagen Type I is the most common type and makes up ~90% of the human body. It’s found in all fibrous tissues, (i.e. tendons, skin, bones) except cartilage and helps to support healthy skin and nails. Collagen III is found in skin, blood vessels, intestines and muscles and helps to support healthy joints and cartilage
Where is your product manufactured?
It is manufactured in the United States but the ingredients are sourced globally.
Is collagen only used to help support healthy skin?
There are several different types of collagen. Collagen Type is determined primarily by the source of the collagen and how it is processed. Some collagens help support healthy skin and nails, whereas others help support healthy joints and/or cartilage.
Is all collagen the same?
Different types of collagen are found in different tissues. There are many different types of collagen, but the majority of the collagens in the body are Types I, II, and III.
Should collagen be used to replace other dietary proteins?
Collagen is unique in that it contains more of the amino acids proline, hydroxyproline and glycine than most other sources of protein. Thanks to its unique amino acid profile, the benefits of collagen supplementation often differ from that of other protein sources, such as whey or casein. Whey, casein, soy, and other complete proteins are best for muscle support, whereas collagens largely provide support for healthy skin and joints.
Does collagen help support muscle protein synthesis (MPS) just like whey protein?
Collagen is an incomplete protein, meaning it is low or lacking at least one essential amino acid and therefore is not a replacement for complete proteins like casein, whey, or soy. Complete proteins, like whey, help support muscle protein synthesis and post-exercise muscle recovery. When used consistently as part of a balanced diet and regular resistance exercise, complete proteins, like whey, can help support muscle building.
Do rates of collagen synthesis remain steady across an adult’s lifespan?
Collagen production naturally declines with age. After the age 25, collagen production begins to decline and may be further accelerated by poor lifestyle choices, such as smoking and excess sun exposure.
Can collagen be absorbed by the body?
The body metabolizes collagen much like it would any other protein. When collagen is consumed, it is broken down into amino acids. The body then determines and prioritizes how the amino acids will be utilized.
