Just 5 Days On Creatine
Over the last decade, there have been numerous studies done on creatine. The consensus is that supplementing with it can improve performance. But what if you only have 5 days? A study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise reported that 16 moderately trained men who took 5 grams of creatine with carbs for 5 days improved muscle contraction properties over a group of athletes who only consumed supplemental carbohydrates.
The Bigger Picture: Once again, muscle function was improved by creatine supplementation. Everyone cycles creatine through their system, since it's a derivative of the amino acids glycine and arginine. Unfortunately, we generally don't take in enough through diet to make a difference in athletic performance. From this study, it appears that 5 days of supplementation can take care of that.
