Walnuts Bring The Whole Package

Walnuts Bring The Whole Package A study presented at the 241st National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society goes beyond ranking tree nuts as one of nature's most perfect foods. The research states that walnuts are superior to peanuts, almonds, pecans, pistachios and other nuts. Why? They provide high-quality protein, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals and are both dairy and gluten free. There's also plenty of antioxidant support in a handful of walnuts; almost twice as much as any other type of nut.

True Strength Moment: A lot of dieters avoid nuts because of their high fat and calorie content. But the fat is polyunsaturated and monounsaturated, not the less healthy saturated fat. Fortunately, it doesn't take much to get potential benefits out of walnuts. If you restrict intake to a handful, say 7 nuts total, you'll reap significant nutritional rewards without adding a whole lot of calories.
