Another Perspective On Lifting

Another Perspective On Lifting You know exactly what you want to achieve in the gym. But sometimes outside influence can set the bar just a little higher for you. A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research measured the effects of expert advice on elite rugby players engaged in weight training sessions that encompassed multiple sets and reps.

Nine very experienced subjects performed the bench throw exercise on 4 separate occasions, each separated by a week. These sessions involved 3 sets of 4 reps. In two of these workouts, subjects were given professional advice about the quality of their efforts. A small but significant increase of 1.8% peak power and velocity was the end result.

True Strength Moment: Regardless of how long you've been lifting, there's always something new to learn. Less than 2% improvement doesn't sound like much. But if you've ever been stuck trying to push past a training plateau, you know how thankful you'd be for that 1.8% boost. If someone with knowledge offers advice, it wouldn't hurt to listen.
