The Worldwide Survey of Fitness Trends 2012 received 2,620 responses from personal trainers and other fitness professionals on 6 continents. Dropping out of the Top 20 trends were Pilates and stability ball training.

True Strength Moment: When a trend doesn't stand the test of time, it's considered a fad. Exercises that provide lasting results typically endure and that's the way it's been with strength training. There will always be new techniques to try and variations on established themes, but it's hard to debate the value of old school barbell and dumbbell exercises that continue to produce impressive gains.
