Rev Up Your Tennis Serve

Rev Up Your Tennis Serve Think you'd score more aces if you could increase the speed of your tennis serve by 1% to 3%? A study published in the Journal of Sports Science & Medicine suggests attaining that increase in velocity could be realized by altering the way you warm up for a match.

Researchers had 26 young elite tennis players add static stretching, dynamic exercise or upper body plyometric moves to their normal warm up of jogging and practice serves on different days. The more intense dynamic exercise and plyometric pre-game drills produced the fastest during match serves.

True Strength Moment: Success is in the details, as the saying goes, and if changing the way you warm up for a game offers a competitive edge, it's certainly worth experimenting with the strategy. If you end up scoring more points, you'll be making a change for the better.
