Losing Weight With Multivitamins

Looking for that magic pill to help you shed pounds? A pair of studies recently published in the British Journal of Nutrition suggests that it may come in the form of a multivitamin. One study looked at the differences in men and women who took multivitamins and/or dietary supplements and those who did not. In the other study, participants were given either a vitamin/mineral supplement or a placebo. The results of both studies determined that women who supplemented with multivitamins and minerals realized a positive appetite-related effect while actively trying to lose weight. Lower body weight and reduced fat levels were more detectable in the men.

The Bigger Picture: Although there is no such thing as a magic weight loss pill, it's nice to know that multivitamins and other supplements can assist with weight loss efforts. To realize long-term results, any weight loss program should incorporate regular resistance and cardiovascular training along with a balanced diet of whole foods.
