CrossFit WOD Burns 117 Calories While no CrossFit WOD (workout of the day) could be considered typical, how many calories do you think you'd burn during one of these intense workouts? Researchers from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse put 16 male and female subjects through Donkey Kong and Fran WODs to try and quantify the effort.

Donkey Kong involves three rounds of burpees, kettlebell swings and box jumps with stair climbs in between. The first round is 21 reps which decreases to 15 reps and then nine reps for the final set. It was calculated that the average female burned 117 calories in nine minutes of exercise at 90% of maximum heart rate. Around 64 calories were burned in five minutes during the Fran WOD.

True Strength Moment: Due to different levels of fitness and other factors, it can take as long as 20 minutes or as little as five to complete these sessions. Because most people tend to pay less attention to details as they fatigue, stay safe by focusing on form throughout CrossFit WODs.
