7-Week Boot Camp Results

7-Week Boot Camp Results If you're already in pretty good shape, what can you expect to get out of military style boot camp training? A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research suggests you can expect to see improvements in strength, power and speed.

Scientists assigned 180 physically conditioned men to 7 weeks of traditional army physical fitness training involving calisthenics and running with a battlefield load or a novel program incorporating calisthenics, weight training, cardio, speed, power and agility training for the same duration.

True Strength Moment: The novel program produced greater improvements than military style training, but both helped subjects boost performance. Bench press increased 8% with novel training compared to 3% for boot camp, and 30-meter sprint time was shortened by 5% compared to just 1%. Either of these approaches appears to offer a potentially beneficial change up to your stale routine.
