If you play soccer or another sport where conditioning is key to athletic success, a study published in the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance suggests the 45-15 field test can be used as an accurate gauge of your aerobic capacity.

Researchers had 18 high school aged soccer players run for 45 seconds with 15 seconds of low-intensity active recovery between runs until exhausted. Passing the test required a peak speed equal to or above 16.5 km per hour (10.25 MPH).

True Strength Moment: Because soccer is a game of repeated sprints with lots of low-intensity running in between, the 45-15 test is a good fit for this type of team sports athlete. If you can consistently hit your peak aerobic speed, it'll be harder for less fit competitors to keep pace with your performance.
