French Toast – Olympic Style

French swimmer Alain Bernard had boasted that his 4-man relay team would 'smash' the Americans in Sunday's 4x100 freestyle event at Beijing's Water Cube. Both teams were on world record pace as he and American Jason Lezak made the final turn. 50 meters later, Lezak touched the wall 8/100ths of a second before Bernard winning Gold for the Americans and leaving the French to eat humble pie. It was the second Gold of the games for Michael Phelps, who was first off the blocks for Team USA in the relay.

The Bigger Picture: Motivation can provide that extra ounce of determination for pulling off extraordinary physical accomplishments. The American relay team beat the old world record by nearly 4 seconds. They channeled the negative comments of their chief adversary into a very positive outcome. See if you can use positive or negative energy to propel yourself one step further in the gym or on your chosen field of competition.

Medal Tally (as of 5PM CDT) China 14, USA 12, South Korea 8, Italy 8, Russia 6

I think it's about the brag being a toast, and not about the food.
