2008 NPC USA Championships

"Every time you took a breath, it was like breathing inside an oven." That was a phrase repeated by many of the attendees at the 2008 NPC USA Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. While it may have been a blistering 114° outside, inside the Performing Arts Center at UNLV, it was hot for a different reason; the competition! Team ON had 6 of its 35 athletes competing and 2 of them made a run at taking their classes. Bodybuilder Victor Delcampo continued his strong national level run by improving on his 5th place finish at last November's NPC Nationals to a well-earned 2nd place in the highly-competitive Welterweight Class at the USA's. Not to be outdone, Tami Delzenero almost cracked the top 5 in a very competitive Figure Class E, placing a solid 6th.

Winning the Overall title at one show is an accomplishment most bodybuilders would love to have, but winning 2 Overall titles in a row is a dream that many will never see fulfilled. ON's "Big" Sean Allan dreams his goals up like his size…BIG! Gunning for an unprecedented 3rd Overall win in a row in less then 2 months (NPC Atlantic States & Jr. Nationals), Sean fell a little short, but vowed to be back at this year's NPC Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia to get his IFBB Pro Card. Competitors at the NPC Nationals better watch out as "Big" Sean Allan is getting used to winning, and not winning the NPC USA's put even more fuel on his fire!

Winning the Men's Overall and earning his IFBB Pro Card was Heavyweight Brandon Curry. After placing 2nd in his class at both the 2007 NPC USA's and Nationals, Brandon was finally able to grab that elusive prize. Heavyweight Isabelle Turell won the Women's Bodybuilding Overall and Amy Lee Martin was the Figure Overall Winner.

Optimum Nutrition was at the expo in a big way as always handing out tons of samples. The new NitroCore 24 was by far the biggest hit of the weekend. IFBB Figure Pro Huong Arcinas as well as fellow ON athletes Jen Turnbull, Kristina Lum, and Sheila Bratten were there to make sure everyone who stopped by received samples, autographs, and smiles.
