Are You Future Minded?

Research published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences discovered an interesting link between those who live in the moment and people who take a longer view on life. Both of these mindsets have a direct impact on health and fitness.

Scientists had 19 year old college students answer a number of questions to determine whether they responded to instant rewards, like a piece of cake after dinner, or long-term results, such as a buy-and-hold investment strategy. They found that the future-minded students were much more likely to eat clean, work out regularly, and avoid unhealthy habits.

The Bigger Picture: There's an old saying that goes 'if something is worth having, it's worth working for'. Long-term health and fitness are two very good examples, and almost everyone has direct control over both. You have to work at eating right and exercising every day. But the results are well worth the effort.
