We're No. 42

Although Americans are living to be older than ever before, people in 41 other countries live longer on the average. That's a pretty embarrassing fact considering that the U.S. currently spends more on health care than any other country on earth. Of course, we also have one of the highest rates of obesity.

The Bigger Picture: According to this report, life expectancy in the U.S. is now 77.9 years. A separate study conducted over the course of 12 years on a group of Americans who exercised regularly and consumed a vegetable-rich diet pegged the life expectancy of group members at 78.5 to 84.8 years. Think about how you can make better nutritional and exercise choices to raise your prospects.
