Bigger Muscles Are Stronger Muscles

There’s more than one way to measure a muscle. You can go with size and then there’s density. A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research attempts to determine which is more accurate for predicting muscular strength.

After measuring the density and size of thigh, forearm and leg muscles on 52 men and women, researchers determined that muscle cross-sectional area (size) was strongly associated with grip and knee strength, but not ankle strength. Muscle density was not an accurate predictor of strength. So draft your team based on physical size.
