What Compression Tights Do And Don’t Do

You see all kinds of athletes wearing them. Many distance runners use compression tights while training and competing. What do they do for performance? New research from The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center presented at the American College of Sports Medicine's annual meeting attempts to answer that question.

Volunteers ran on a treadmill for half an hour at 80% of their maximum speed. On one occasion, they wore compression tights. On another, they didn’t. The tights do reduce muscle vibration while running, but they don’t reduce fatigue or increase performance.
