Product authentication tips

The unrivaled quality of Optimum Nutrition’s products is a key reason why consumers have made us the World’s No.1 selling whey protein powder. The guide below is designed to help consumers in the UK and EU make sure you are getting what you paid for – an authentic Optimum Nutrition product made by our own Manufacturing Plant in the UK.
Check Authentication Tips for products manufactured in the US.

Scoop

Gold Standard 100% Whey tubs (UK & EU) now contain a clear plastic scoop. There is no branding on this.

*This is a recent changeover from prior use of gold scoops. You may still find these gold scoops in your tubs in the short term.

Tub design

Gold Standard 100% Whey Tubs (UK and EU) have a circular indentation on the bottom. There is also a line running through the middle.

Protective Seal

Optimum Nutrition protein tubs have a cardboard barrier that helps hold powder in place during shipping. This gloss white protective disk should be stuck to top of the tub. A pin hole has been added to reduce pressure during transit. Check the seal on the outer rim of the tub has not been tampered with.

Fill size

The tub may appear to be two-thirds full when opened. This is normal as the powder settles and does not impact on or decrease the weight or number of serves listed on the label.

Batch number and date

Every Optimum Nutrition product will display a printed Batch Number and Date. The Best Before Date and Batch Codes are located on the should of the tub or the rear of the large bags. They will be printed in yellow ink on the tubs and black ink on the bags for UK and EU products.

• BBE : 00/0000 (month / year)
• BATCH : 0000000
• 00:00 0000 (further site identification)

Neck Band

For sustainability reasons, we have decided to remove the plastic neck band on all our tubs, saving an estimated 4 tonnes of plastic p.a.

Optimum nutrition quality

With our own state-of the art manufacturing operation in Middlesbrough, Optimum Nutrition is one of the few sports nutrition companies who own and operate their own production facilities. While we are globally one of the world's largest producers of sports nutrition products, we remain focused on being recognised as the best. In fact, our requirements for raw materials are so strenuous that it's not unusual for Optimum Nutrition Quality Assurance Technicians to reject entire truckloads of raw materials that do not meet our high standards. We like to think that we take as much pride and care in crafting our award-winning supplements as our consumers do with achieving their performance goals.
