AM Versus PM Concurrent Training

How can you combine strength and endurance training to get the most out of every workout? Depends on your goal. A study published in the International Journal of Sports Medicine examines strength and endurance adaptations in relation to order of exercises and time of day.
Fifty-one male volunteers took part in 24 weeks of concurrent workouts. Some did strength training first while other began each workout with endurance exercise. In addition, some subjects trained in the morning and others trained in the evening.
Greater neuromuscular adaptations were realized when strength training came before endurance exercise in evening workouts. The most significant improvements in endurance performance were realized when workouts began with endurance exercise regardless of whether subjects trained in the morning or evening.
