Five Different Plyometric Push-Ups
There’s more than one way to improve upper body power performance. In fact, you have a number of options that can be performed outside the weight room. A study published in the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance examines the differences between standard and kneeling countermovement push-ups, squat push-ups, kneeling squat push-ups and drop-fall push-ups.
Thirty-seven commando soldiers performed sets of all 5 variations during 3 trials. A force plate revealed that peak ground reaction forces and rate of force development were highest with standard countermovement push-ups. Flight time was greatest during kneeling style push-ups. Using a variety of these movements can help you change up a stale power training routine.
