Try Swapping Weight Plates For Kettlebells
When your workout routine starts to get a little too routine, you can alter the order of exercises, add more weight and increase the reps or sets. A study published in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research suggests you can also step out of your comfort zone with a more dramatic change involving 3 kettlebell exercises.
Fourteen weight room regulars were asked to perform the kettlebell swing, snatch and clean using individualized 8 to 10 reps max loads. EMG measurements revealed significantly different muscle activation patterns across all 3 exercises. Because of the different demands placed on muscle groups, these kettlebell exercises offer a viable alternative to a whole body weight room workout. Make sure you get expert instruction before trying these movements.
