Two Workouts For Elevating Your Game
If you compete in a sport where vertical jump performance can make a difference, a study published in The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness might be of interest. It compares the effects of 16 weeks of hang clean or half squat training.
Researchers assigned 58 male basketball players to work hang cleans and jump rope exercises or half squats and speed ladder training into their regular workouts. Both programs improved vertical jump performance for athletes age 19 and older, but only half squats were effective for the 17 year old subjects.
