Where Calorie Counting Lacks
Maintaining a food journal is a good way to make sure you’re keeping calories in check while evenly distributing protein and other nutritients throughout the day. Those who really dial in the details will be interested in a study on self-reported dietary assessments published in the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Researchers had 40 study subjects wear a body camera on days when they were asked to complete 24 hour dietary recalls. Afternoon snacks were most frequently under reported along with breakfast condiments. Don’t forget to track that mid-afternoon protein bar or the dried fruit you mix into oatmeal.
