Caffeine Boosts Jump Performance

Volleyball, basketball and other athletes who can benefit from improved jump performance might be interested in the findings of a study recently published in the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance.
An hour after consuming a placebo or 5 mg of caffeine per kg of body weight, 10 elite male volleyball players took part in a countermovement jump test. Compared to placebo, caffeine helped increase peak concentric force by an average of 6.5%, peak power 16.2%, flight time 5.3% and peak acceleration 13.5%.
