Easy Way To Increase Physical Activity

The gym isn’t the only place people get active. Walking instead of driving is one way to step up your game, and an interesting study published in the journal Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise shows how increasing the amount of time you walk can have an additive effect on physical activity.
Researchers had 437 Seattle area residents wear accelerometers and GPS units for 7 days between 2008 and 2009 and again between 2010 and 2011. They also completed physical activity questionnaires. On average, a minute more walking was associated with an increase of 1 to 1.2 minutes of added physical activity.
