Fitness Trackers For Weight Loss

Lots of people wear a fitness tracker keep track of activity levels. Some use them as a way to stoke their competitive fires. Others wear them to help shed weight. A study published in The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness looks into the effectiveness of fitness trackers for slimming down.
Researchers conducted a systematic review of 21 studies on different fitness trackers. All subjects had a Body Mass Index greater than 25 and most were women. Results suggest using activity trackers for less than 6 months can be more effective compared to standard interventions, but only for middle age and older adults. Younger subjects don’t seem to benefit from the technology when the goal is weight loss.
